Meet our Board
Vijeshni Rattan
Head of school
I joined Wellington Hindi School in 2007 as I felt I could contribute to Hindi education especially for our young people. Bringing up own child gave me an opportunity to keep myself refreshed in Hindi. I work at Early Years as a head teacher and am actively involved at Hare Krishna and their Bal Vikash Programme. I am passionate about keeping my culture and identity life which I achieve by teaching at Hindi School and working with other Indian organisations.

Darpad Pednekar
Student Representative
Namaste, my name is Darpad and I am a student at Otaki College. I am interested in learning, sharing and trying new things. Sometimes I have realised even though my friends/people know Hindi they don’t like talking in Hindi: which makes me feel sad. This is why I decided to become a student rep for the Wellington Hindi school to promote our beautiful language. In my time of being a student rep, I am also excited to learn and become part of new leadership roles. In the past I have shared my Hindi ways with many of my classmates and with wider community in different platforms like Holi, Diwali, and multicultural programs. I hope that I will serve Hindi School by giving new ideas which I think are interesting and will help to build Hindi skills. Jai hind🙏

With a passion for education and a commitment to excellence, I strive to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for our students. I am honoured to work with a team of dedicated teachers and staff who share my vision of fostering linguistic and cultural proficiency in Hindi. Together, we aim to inspire our students to become culturally strong, confident, responsible, and compassionate individuals who will make a positive impact in their communities.

Supriti Singh
Associate Secretary
Ram ram,
My name is Supriti Singh, and I am currently the Assistant Secretary on the Wellington Hindi School Board. I am a student at Victoria University of Wellington, looking to finish a double degree in Law and Psychology.
I am originally from Fiji and am currently in the process of learning about my Fijian-Indian roots, and the rich culture that emerged from my ancestral history.
I have been a Wellington Hindi School student for my entire childhood, and have helped out with events throughout my adolescence and adult life. I am so grateful to have been so involved in the school from a young age, as it has helped myself and my family to stay in touch with our roots. Had it not been for Wellington Hindi School, I may not have been so enthusiastic about my own culture. So it is now such a privilege to be in this role and to be able to give back to the team that helped me become who I am today.
I look forward to promoting a positive experience in learning about the beautiful languages and cultures of India.
